Privacy Policy

Pictango ("the App") is operated by corita ("we", "us", or "our"), an independent business based in Japan. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles and how. By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

All users. Learning progress, settings, and other data are stored locally on your device. Within the App, we do not collect names, addresses, phone numbers, payment card details, or other personal information.

Anonymous usage analytics. By default, the App sends anonymous, aggregated usage events (such as which screens are opened and whether a learning session was completed) to our analytics provider, PostHog, to help us improve the App. These events use a randomly generated identifier and do not contain personal information. You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Privacy → Send usage data.

Advertising measurement (iOS). To measure and optimize our advertising — for example, which ads lead to installs — our iOS app uses a third-party advertising SDK (the Meta, or Facebook, SDK) together with Apple's SKAdNetwork. If you allow tracking when prompted (Apple's App Tracking Transparency), we share your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and a limited set of app events — installing or opening the App, completing your first learning session, and purchases — with Meta for this purpose. If you decline, measurement is limited to Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports only anonymous, aggregated results. We do not share your email address, any account or user identifier, or your learning content and progress with Meta or any other advertiser. You can change your choice at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. This is separate from the anonymous PostHog analytics above, which is our own product analytics and is not used for cross-app advertising. See Meta's Privacy Policy.

Premium subscribers. When you start a premium subscription, the following is processed:

• Purchase information. Subscription status, processed via Apple's In-App Purchase system and RevenueCat (our subscription management provider). An anonymous subscriber identifier generated by RevenueCat is used to track your subscription state; no name or email is shared with us.

Payments are handled by Apple.

2. How We Use Information

• Verify and maintain your premium subscription status across your devices.
• Respond to support inquiries you send to us.
• Comply with legal obligations.

3. Third-Party Services

• Apple Inc. Provides the App Store and In-App Purchase processing. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat, Inc. Manages subscription status. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• PostHog Inc. Receives anonymous usage analytics events (US region). These events do not include names, email addresses, or advertising identifiers. See PostHog's Privacy Policy. You can opt out in the App's settings.
• Meta Platforms, Inc. Used for advertising measurement. Our marketing website (pictango.corita.jp) uses the Meta Pixel for anonymous page views and taps on the "Get it on the App Store" button. Separately, our iOS app uses the Meta SDK together with Apple's SKAdNetwork; with your permission via App Tracking Transparency, your device's advertising identifier and basic app events (install/open, first-session completion, purchases) are shared with Meta — see Section 1 for details and how to opt out. We do not share your email address, account identifiers, or learning data with Meta. See Meta's Privacy Policy.
• Google LLC. Our marketing website (pictango.corita.jp) uses the Google Ads tag to measure advertising effectiveness — specifically anonymous page views and taps on the "Get it on the App Store" button. This applies to the website only; the App itself contains no Google advertising SDK, and no learning data is sent to Google. See Google's Privacy Policy.

4. What We Do Not Do

• Within the App, we do not collect names, email addresses, or similar contact details that identify you personally.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information.
• We do not share your learning content or progress with advertisers. For advertising measurement, our iOS app shares only your device's advertising identifier and a limited set of app events with Meta, and only if you allow tracking — never your learning data, email address, or account identifiers (see Sections 1 and 3). Our marketing website uses the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag for anonymous web events only.
• We do not maintain our own user database for learning data.

5. Data Storage and Retention

Learning progress and settings are stored locally on your device using the operating system's local storage. If you have iCloud Backup enabled, your iOS device may include this data in its backup; that backup is managed by Apple, not by us.

Subscription information is retained by RevenueCat and Apple for the duration of your subscription and as required by applicable law.

6. Your Rights

• Delete local data. Use the "Reset All Progress" option in the App's settings, or uninstall the App.
• Cancel subscription. Manage your subscription via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iOS device.
• Request deletion of subscription-linked records. Email support@corita.jp. We will work with our providers to delete records to the extent permitted by law.

7. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently received such information, please contact us so we can address it.

8. International Transfers

Our subscription provider RevenueCat, our analytics provider PostHog, and our advertising-measurement provider Meta are all based in the United States. By using the App, you understand that subscription identifiers, anonymous usage analytics, and — if you allow tracking — advertising-measurement data may be processed in the United States.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above and, when changes are material, notify users through the App or via email when reasonably possible.
